M-Ray's Glorious Ethnicity

Initial FTDNA results:

As we see the biggest element in the DNA is labeled as Southeast European. Which translated into Balkan region which was totally expected and foreseeable since M-Ray's ancestors originate in the Balkans.

Southeast Europe pretty much covers all of Balkan peninsula without discriminating Slavic, Greek or etc.

Eastern European is following with 34% which is roughly Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Hungary and somewhat Bulgaria. Since Bulgarians are the closest to Eastern Slavs. This might also include the Tatars and the Gagauz of Eastern Europe.

Next portion is 14% Anatolian, which represents the Ancient peoples of Anatolia. Hittites, Phrygians, Ionians, Lydians, Galatians etc. Among these, Lydians and Ionians are closely related with Greeks and Hittites are somewhat related to Greeks. These peoples spoke Anatolian languages, which is an extinct sub-language family category among Indo-European languages. It was somewhat related to Proto-Greek language. Phrygians came from Balkans. Galatians are Celts. These peoples were the cradle of civilization. First written agreement was signed by Hittites. First money was used by Lydians. You can dig down a few feet and find some ancient artifact. Pride, Honor and Glory is endless with this case.

There was an attempt to Anatolianize Troy. Even Atatürk by defeating the Greeks said "we took the revenge of Troy", he was trying to create a common Anatolian identity that dates back pre-Greek colonists times. Still, in this matter, Ionians and Trojans got so intimate over time and basically melted among the Greeks. The similarity between Turks and Greeks can be built over this to some degree though not completely, since there are other factors.

Nevertheless, Southeast European and Anatolian definitely holds Greek elements in them and this is a source of Pride, Glory and Honor for me since Greece is known world-wide for the history and mythology. Makes me take pride for Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, Ares and others. Makes me proud of Greek Mythology, these are the first stories ever created and recorded by the humanity. Makes me proud to know that world uses a lot of Greek words. Makes me proud of Leonidas of Sparta, Spartacus of Thrace, Philip of Macedon, Alexander the Great, Statue of Rhodes, Temple of Artemis, Hagia Sofia and many more.

Siberia, British Isles and Finland comprise small percentages, yet they arent a problem for me take pride in The Empire on which the Sun never Sets, The Winter War and survival in the cold wilderness of Siberia which will give me energy and diligence to survive no matter what even in the worst times that may come one day.

Siberian connection might be through the Finns as well since Finns are from the Finn branch of Finno-Ugric language family. And there are countless tribes from this language family in Siberia and around.

British connection could be through the Galatians that settled in the central Anatolia at ancient times.

Second result:

This one shows the closest my DNA to a common pool of people. Which holds the first initial results true and show my DNA closest to Balkans. Turkic elements like Turk_Aydin, Turk_Balıkesir, Crimean_Tatar_Mountain and Gagauz might be corresponding the 14% Anatolian whereas Ukrainian, Romanian and basically all the Slavic nations to some degree might be corresponding the 34% Eastern European.

Third Result:

This results refer to ancient times even long before the first tribes were being formed. Anatolian farmer basically refers to Anatolian and Balkan to some degree while Baltic Hunter Gatherer refers to Europeans since after the retraction of Glaciers from Europe, the people migrated there via Caucasus and they first settled around Baltic sea and lived as Hunters in the vastness of European lush forests. Then they spread to the rest of Europe.

Mediterranean farmer probably refers to South Italy, Greece, Balkans, Cyprus, Sicily and North Italy to some smaller extent.

Fourth Result:

This study refers to me being most probably Bulgarian and less likely Romanian. The others have very little probability.

Fifth Result:

This study takes the genome in a different manner to do the calculations. My Italian looks explain themselves easily in this study.

Near eastern mostly stands for Anatolian. 5.44

Arabian is probably due to similarities between southern Anatolians and Northern Syrians left from Hittites rule. 1.26

Armenian is probably through the shared DNA of ancient Urartians. 4.20

South Central Asian probably stands for Uzbek: 1.19

Amerindian: 0.24

European in total:
Italian: 16.04
East_Central Europe: Polish, West Ukrainian, Hungarian, Slovak: 13.53
North_Caucasian: Circassian, Chechen, Balkar, Kabardin, Karachay: 10.05
Eastern_Euro: Central Ukrainian, Eastern Ukrainian, Crimea: 8.63
North_Sea: British, Dutch, Irish: 7.36
Central Euro: Czech, German: 5.65
East Balkan: Thracian, Bulgarian, Romanian: 5.53
Fennoscandinavia: Finland, Sweden, Norway: 4.21
West_Caucasian: Georgian, Laz, Abkhaz: 3.62
French: 3.54
Iberian. 2.91
East_Med: Greek: 2.39
North_Atlantic: Icelandic, Danish 2.01
West_Med: Sardinian, Corsican: 1.49
Volga-Ural: Finno-Ugric language family speakers: 0.70
==87.66

Though I live closer to Armenia, I have more Scandinavian Genes than Armenian.

Sixth Result:

Another result, showing me the closest to Bulgarian and Romanian, surprisingly Romanian is closer.

Seventh Result:

Gencove results show that it agrees with Southeast Europe results of initial results which was 49%, here 44%. Anatolia was 14, here 12. Eastern Europe was 34, here Northeast Europe is 25. Give or take they correspond well. However, initial study had mentioned only British at 2% and Finnish at 1%. With the courage received from other studies, we can conclude that I have substantial amount of Northern, Central and Western European DNA as well.

Eighth result:

With this study we see more Italian and Western European than Eastern European. Central Indo-European stands for Anatolian basically and this is drastically lower and this includes Caucasians as well, which was confirmed with fifth result, eventually lowering the Anatolian gene percentage as low as 5 percent, which stands very little in comparison to the initial 14 percent.

Another surprising fact is that Balkan turned out to be only 1.5% which dramatically low, however in this study Balkan only refers to Bulgarian, Albanian and Greek. This further complicates things since both of the origin places lie within Greece and Bulgaria. Italian connection is likely due to the 1848 Uprising and Revolutions in Europe.

Ninth Result:

Though in Turkish, its clear to understand. Greece is specified seperately and its 17.7%. Scandinavia shows consistency with initial results. Central Asia is 2% its consolidated its place with other studier though its heavily in contrast with the initial study. West Asia is surprisingly low and is in heavy conflict with initial Asia Minor results which was 14%.

Nigerian heritage is unexpected but gives M-Ray an edge over other people for having the capability of using the word `Nigga` freely. However since it doesnt exist in the other results, this is likely to be ignored in the conclusion part.

CONCLUSION

Though there is much to learn and talk about for example at first I had intended to talk about Khazars, Cumans, Pechenegs and Avars, I omitted that subject.

Overall Results:

Croatian: 13%
Greek: 12%
Thracian: 11%
Serbo-Bosniak: 11%
Anatolian: 11%

Bulgarian: 6%
Romanian: 3%
Finno-scandinavian: 2%
Central Asian: 1%
German: 1%
Baltic: 1%
British: 1%
